Happy Halloween

WE MIGHT LOOK DIVERSE
BUT TOGETHER IT IS ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL!
Here are the Ninja's protecting thier sisters!

We have gone from dressing up cute like bam bam and pebbles, to adventuresome likePirates of the Carribean to now this year where everyone picked their own thing. Kayla wanted to be a cute fairy. I tried to tell her i thought she was getting too old to be a fairy but she insisted and made up her own costume. In the end she looked really pretty. Ashlynn's personality fit her costume. She was a little pop star girl. When she went up to the door for trick or treateing, someone said "Well don't you look like a little "sassy" pants. She thought that was so funny and I thought to myself costume fits the girl! Brayden and Hunter decided they wanted to be Ninja's. Brayden then tried to change his mind two days before Halloween to a BMX Rider but i said it was too late, he would have to save that for next year! Brayden said "We are the Ninja's that protect the girls." The boys acted out being Ninja's the whole time we were trick or treating. Pulling out their swords and ninja stars. They were really excited since they never get to have swords. We had a lot of fun on Halloween and by nine o' clock we were exhausted and went home. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

My Beautiful Little Fairy.
Kayla looked so sweet and Kind. She made up her own costume to match her personality. Sweet, kind, loving peacemaker.

"Better Watch Out I am Ninja Warrior and will defend my sisters to the end"Brayden may look rough and tough on the outside but in the inside he really has a heart of gold.

This is Hunter trying to get his Ninja Warrior stance just right. Hunter is all boy. Life is all about fun and excitement. He lives in the moment! Like his brother he looks rough and tough but on the inside he is quited tender hearted.
The Battle of the Ninja's who will win?

My little Pop Star Girl. Doesn't the outfit suit her personality! I call Ashlynn my sweet and sassy little girl. She may be sassy but she is very sweet. Just last week she saw Kayla was having a hard time getting all her chores done. Without telling kayla or anyone she made her bed and straighened her room. Ashlynn's personality keeps life fun and interesting.

Can You get decked out for Halloween more than this! It was crazy sock day so Ashlynn went in my drawer and put on my Halloween socks Oma gave me a couple years ago. She wanted everyone to see her cute socks so she pulled them up over her pants. Talk about a girl with her own cute style. Everyone told her how cute she looked at school! She said "thanks I picked it out myself."

Keeping Memories Alive

Here at the Hughes house we are trying to keep the sugar cookie memory alive. We had the Missionaries come over for Dinner in a Pumkin and then we decorated cookies afterwards. The kids had a lot of fun! Hunter had to see how much candy one cookie could hold. Ashlynn was determined to use the most sprinkles on her cookies. We had a lot of fun and it reminded me of the memories I have of cooking sugar cookies and decorating them for the holidays.

If you look closely you can see Hunter decided to take a quick bit before the picture.

This is the best picture I could get of Brayden! He said "Oh yea dad you said I could not get three pumkins on one cookie. Look at this"

Hunters First School Project

Hunter did his first school project. He created an "All About Me" Poster. He was so proud fof himself and excited to be able to take his very own poster to school. It was 12:00 Midnight when Hunter finished it. He was so excited he ran into his room and jumped on Brayden, waking him up and said "Look at my cool poster."

KAYLA'S BLOODWORK ADVENTURE

Kayla had to get her blood taken to test for hypoglycemia. To say the very least she is petrified of needles! Originally, her mom took her to get her blood taken. Kayla kepts jerking her arm from the lab nurse and telling her that she was mean. After she ran out of the lab room telling her mom "you did this to me you don't even care." I decided to call her Dad for Help. Luckily he was only about ten minutes away. We waited in the waiting room till Michael got there to help out. This is Michael trying to talk kayla nicely and tell her everything is going to be okay. After working and coaxing with her and trying to reason with her about being a big girl and letting the lab tech take her blood, it became apparent that other measures were going to have to be taken.
When it became apparent that she was not getting her blood work done without being held down, Michael asked if they could hold her down. They told him that he would have to hold her down. So he wrapped his right arm around her head and grabbed her left arm and held down her legs. He then stretched forth her right arm with his left hand while the nurse punctured her vein with "A Very huge Needle," According to Kayla. While this was going on Kayla was screaming niceties like "YOU PEOPLE ARE EVIL! and I HATE YOU and THIS BURNS SO BAD" etc. Michael said next time we are bringing ear plugs for the whole office! After all this was said and done my sweet Kayla felt very bad and continuously apologized to us.

Dressing Up for Halloween

Kayla is getting to be so grown up. She is really busy since she is in all AP classes. Just last week she made the cut offs to run for student council since she was in the top six percentile of her sixth grade class. We are so proud of her!
However, when it comes to dressing up she says
"I don't care what others think I have my own style."
She still likes to dress up and have Fun!
From Head to Toe Ashlynn likes to get decked out for the month of Halloween. She is wearing everything her Oma has gotten her from both past and present for Halloween. She was so excited to get dressed up. Originally she had on two halloween bracelets and two necklaces. I convinced her that she only needed one necklace and one bracelet and could save the other for another day.
I found this outfit at a garage sale in our neighboorhood for fifty cents. When I first saw it I thought it had Ashlynn written all over it. It was bright like her personality yet had a sweet and sassy look to it. I brought it home and ashlynn immediately tried it on and said mom, "it looks just like me. Can I wear it for Halloween?" I told her she could but we would have to get a undershirt to wear cause I did not realize the material we see through at her tummy. Yes I scored! A Halloween outfit for fifty cents! I have never gotten a Halloween outfit that cheap even with seven five percent off sales!
Hunter came home from school with this Spider Hat on his head.He was so excited. He said, "It is Halloween month so we are learning about spiders." He wore the had the rest of the day. He was so happy and pround of his hat that he had me take a picture of it and told me to put it on the blog.

Hunter's First Basketball Game

This year is Hunter's first year to play basketball.
We had to play him a year up just so he could play.
There is only one other boy that is his age on his team.
However, he might be small but on his first game he
played great defense and even made two baskets!
"I am going to play defense even if you don't want me to."

Hunter is on the move. "Ready or not here I come."

"I may be small but you're not getting the ball."

Senior Night

Skateboard Swing
The kids got tired of waiting for a swing
so they decided to make one on their own.
I thought this was pretty creative using
rope and a skateboard turned upside down.
